How to be a feminist and still enjoy Casual Sex?

The first thing that comes to mind when anyone talks about feminism is “ugly, angry, unattractive women”. Other stereotypes include ‘loud’, ‘screechy’, and ‘deeply unhappy’. Like all stereotypes there is always a small element of truth in it, but it is only a very small element. Having met and slept with many feminists I can safely say that’s a load of absolute rubbish.

The Real Deal
The very right wing brand of feminism assumes women are fragile pathetic simpletons incapable of looking after themselves. Why else would such a culture highlight ‘women victimisation’ so much? From blaming men for all women’s ills to assuming all women are emotionally fragile and unstable, to a very damaging belief that women shouldn’t have casual sex because they’re too emotionally unstable to handle it. Not only is this patently untrue, it’s extremely damaging to women everywhere!

How feminists (all women) can enjoy casual sex
Many women enjoy casual sex just as much and sometimes more than men. Indeed a study concluded that women who indulge and enjoy casual sex are 10 times more likely to settle into a future more stable relationship. The trick is to learning how to know when you’re emotionally able to handle a casual relationship. It might surprise many right wing feminists that this includes men as well – not all men (just like not all women) choose to have casual sex.

The idea of the ‘empowered slut’ is something concocted by the same right wing feminists who simultaneously assume all women are victims. Not only do I find that highly insulting, it’s damaging rubbish.

The Right Kind of Feminism
The right kind of feminism is the one that highlights equality. The wrong kind of feminism is the one that highlights women over equality. It’s important to know the difference and it’s very important to show women that casual sex is okay.
