A lot of women have been emailing us this question so we thought we’d try and give you all a few pointers to doing it properly. There is no right or wrong answer (sorry to disappoint everyone), but there are a few ground rules which should have both parties enjoying their time together before things start getting a bit tired six months down the line.
1. Remember it’s not forever
Fuck buddies come and go. This isn’t a boyfriend you’re road testing. This is someone you finds physically and mentally attractive enough to want to sleep with. The moment you start making holiday plans or re-organising your schedule round their own, is the moment you’ve stopped thinking about them as a fuck buddy.
2. Identify a suitable candidate
Despite our constant and consistent attempts to remind people not to tell porkies in their profiles, everyone still seems to do it a little bit. Make sure you identify a candidate that you feel is going to be the best fit for you. Having an incompatible fuck buddy is a one way ticket to disaster.
3. Take your buddy out for a road test
Looks and chemistry are important; how your buddy performs in bed is even more important. Fuck buddies are not always reliable lovers. Due to the impermanence of the situation a lot of guys won’t bother to try and hit all the buttons to make you come. It’s important you get a fuck buddy who hits all the buttons and rocks your world in the sack.
4. Maintain YOUR schedule
A fuck buddy is like having a bit of sauce on the side of your life – it makes life that much sweeter but your life won’t all off the rails if you don’t have it. Make sure you keep your fuck buddy to the schedule you want. Don’t give in to demands and don’t do anything you’re not comfortable with. Maintain your schedule and you’ll be enjoying that little bit extra on the side.
5. Resist cuddling
Not to be mean, but you should resist snuggling up to your fuck buddy after sex, unless it’s to have another turn at the wheel. The closer you get intimately the more chance there is of someone developing feelings. Check them at the door and remember this is just sex.
