Is it normal to want sex all the time?

How much sex is too much sex? When should you call time on 69? When should you plough on (no pun intended)? Thinking with our nether regions is perfectly natural. However there are times when allowing our sexual appetites to take control of our lives can be damaging. Continually acting on our sexual urges whilst work and laundry piles up can be where problems begin. Having sex is one of the great benefits of adult life. So what is the ideal amount of sex?

How often should we be having sex?
People’s sex drives can vary. Research originally conducted by the Kinsey Institute concluded that 18-29 year olds have sex on average 112 times a year whilst 30-39 year olds have sex an average of 69 times a year. That makes the average amount of sex people under the age of 40 should be having is just over once a week. Many psychologists believe that anyone in a relationship should be having sex at least once a week to maintain physical and emotional intimacy. We would agree with this. But what about those of us in casual relationships?

How much sex in casual relationships?
You’ve probably seen various people posting different levels of sexual desire and fetish on the site. Some claim they want it all the time. Some claim they want a discreet ‘once in a while’ type of partner. All this proves that everyone has a different level of libido. Some will be higher and some will be lower. The trick is to finding someone who matches your own level if you can. If you can satisfy both parties than that is the level of sex you should be having. If however you are enjoying yourself less than your f-buddy, it’s nicer to let them go and try and match up with someone else.

The beauty of casual sex is that there is not as much emotional worry as there is in a serious relationship. Always be respectful of your partners – treat them as you would expect yourself to be treated. Just remember that sex is something to be enjoyed. If you’re getting stressed about it, walk away for a bit and redress other areas of your life. Something else might be causing your problem.
