Is Middle Class Sex the best? No!

It was interesting to read this week in The Telegraph that women and men from middle class backgrounds are more likely to have better sex. A survey undertaken by sex researchers that interviewed 10,000 people showed that those on a higher wage, better living standard and higher work status were more likely to enjoy rich and satisfying sex lives.

If that’s the case, then what does that mean for anyone who’s not middle class? What about those of us who don’t enjoy a high income or enviable job status?

The survey declines to comment but leaves you to ponder the answer for yourself. And ponder we did.

Is middle class sex all it’s cracked up to be?

In a word…no. For a start the survey is inherently flawed for the following reasons:

1. It was undertaken by the Barcelona Public Health Agency in Spain and bears no reflection on the status of sex in the UK
2. Spain is currently experiencing an unemployment rate of 26%...1% less then Greece and just over 20% higher then the UK…of course Spanish people in the affluent middle class are more likely to enjoy a richer sex life!
3. The survey was undertaken in 2009 and is 5 years out of date

Considering the reputation of The Telegraph and implied high quality of its journalism, you would think the author of the article would’ve taken the time to delve a little deeper into her research before submitting the piece for publication.

Sex can be enjoyed by anyone from any socio-economic background
I’ve known couples and singles enjoy very rich and satisfying sex lives and they come from some of what could be classed as the lowest socio-economic backgrounds imaginable. It is not only arrogant but damaging to assert that you have to be earning a higher wage or enjoying a higher status in life in order to enjoy better sex.

I myself am a case in point. Back in 2011 after I had resigned from a deeply unsatisfying job that on the face of it afforded me high status and a very good salary, I enjoyed some of the best sex I have ever had.

Why? I think it was because I had left a job and role I was unhappy with, despite it being very middle class. At one point less then six months after I had left my old role, I was sleeping with two highly sexed and intelligent women at the same time – something that had never happened to me prior to leaving my old job.

So what’s the secret to better sex?
To me it’s pretty obvious; it isn’t about money, status or class. It’s about you being happy with yourself, who you are and what you’re doing in life. Class in my humble opinion is irrelevant.

What do you think?
